Overview

At Lupa, we're hiring for a Senior Analytics Engineer (MX) to join a well-established, 25-year-old digital marketing and analytics consultancy through our staffing partnership. This is a remote role based in Mexico, working primarily with US-based clients on high-impact data projects.

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you'll play a critical role in thinking creatively and rigorously about how data can be transformed to best support and inform organizational needs. You'll move and shape data from source systems so it can be easily analyzed, visualized, and acted upon — and you'll mentor other engineers along the way. If you love building robust data models, reducing complexity in messy data stacks, and being the person who can translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, this is a role where your work will be seen and valued.

Because our clients are mostly US-based organizations, we look for the ability to communicate with professional proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing. This is a heavy consulting environment — you'll need to command a room and translate technical terms to the layman.

What You'll Do

  • Own analytics engineering end-to-end: move and transform data from the source so it's ingested, cleaned, converted, modeled, scheduled, and ready for analytics.

  • Design and build robust, scalable, and reusable data models in SQL that support a variety of downstream use cases, using tools like dbt.

  • Configure and optimize a cloud data warehouse — data permissions, compute and storage clusters, and table schemas.

  • Reduce complexity within client data stacks wherever possible.

  • Configure data ingestion tools like Fivetran and its connectors to different data sources.

  • Design and implement data governance frameworks, including data catalogs and data monitoring/observability platforms.

  • Review code from teammates and clients for accuracy, DRYness, style, and performance.

  • Mentor other engineers, both individually and in group settings, and help evolve and document the standards for the analytics engineering practice.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, data analysts, and client stakeholders to understand needs and deliver on engagement goals.

  • Plan for analytics engineering needs around product or feature launches, pairing with teammates or clients to solve problems.

  • Deliver large and complex projects on time, within scope, and within budget — optimizing for a predictable, regular cadence of deliverables.

  • Champion reliability, maintainability, and scalability, embracing long-term ownership while training others to reduce single points of failure.

Who You Are

Must-haves:

  • Professional English proficiency (8/10 or higher) — you can command a room and translate technical terms for non-technical audiences.

  • Strong programming skills in SQL.

  • Expert proficiency in dbt (required).

  • Expert proficiency in data modeling approaches and philosophies (e.g., Kimball, OBT).

  • Expert proficiency with at least one cloud data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake).

  • Expert proficiency with version control and git.

  • Knowledge of common data integration patterns (e.g., CDC, ELT).

  • Knowledge of common data integration / orchestration platforms (e.g., Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow).

  • Experience with business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI).

Nice-to-haves:

  • Data analysis chops: you can identify deviations from the norm and relationships between data points.

  • Data movement expertise: you can import large, assorted datasets from multiple sources into a single storage medium, and you understand event-driven architectures and asynchronous pub/sub design patterns.

  • Prior consulting or agency experience working with US-based clients.

What's In It For You

  • Competitive compensation benchmarked to senior LATAM data talent, offering meaningful savings versus US rates while paying a strong local premium.

  • Remote-first role based in Mexico, with flexibility to collaborate across a distributed, international team.

  • Engagement type: full-time placement with strong potential for long-term ownership and extensions on successful projects.

  • Real growth path: work as a senior member and mentor within a mature analytics engineering practice at a full-stack, 25-year-old consultancy.

  • Meaningful work with US-based clients on complex, high-visibility data projects.
