Overview
At Lupa, we're hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to join a well-established, full-service digital marketing and analytics consultancy serving primarily US-based clients.
This is a role for someone who loves thinking critically about how data can be transformed to best support and inform real business decisions. As a senior member of the Analytics Engineering practice, you'll not only build robust, scalable data solutions — you'll mentor other engineers, shape team standards, and act as a trusted technical partner to clients tackling complex, high-impact problems.
Because you'll be working closely with US-based clients in a heavy consulting environment, we're looking for someone who can command a room, translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, and communicate with professional proficiency in English (both written and verbal).
What You'll Do
Own the analytics engineering lifecycle: move and transform data from source so it can be easily analyzed, visualized, and acted upon by data analysts and business users — including cleaning, conversion, and modeling.
Design and build robust, scalable, and reusable data models in SQL that support a variety of downstream use cases, using tools like dbt.
Configure and optimize cloud data warehouses — data permissions, compute and storage clusters, and table schemas.
Identify and act on opportunities to reduce complexity within client data stacks.
Configure data ingestion tools such as Fivetran and connect them to a range of data sources.
Design and implement data governance frameworks, including data catalogs and data monitoring/observability platforms.
Review teammates' and clients' code for accuracy, DRYness, style, and performance.
Help evolve and document the standards for the analytics engineering practice.
Collaborate across teams: partner with data engineers and data analysts on end-to-end client requirements, and plan for analytics needs ahead of product or feature launches.
Pair with teammates and clients on strategies for solving analytics engineering problems.
Create processes and reporting templates that help cross-functional teams solve common problems.
Take initiative to identify and solve important problems, coordinating on cross-cutting technical issues.
Deliver projects reliably: ensure large and/or complex projects land on time, within scope, and within budget.
Optimize for predictable, regular delivery cadences while keeping reliability, maintainability, and scalability top of mind.
Embrace long-term ownership while training others to reduce the "bus factor" and avoid becoming a blocker.
Serve as a mentor to other engineers, both individually and in group settings.
Who You Are
Must-haves:
Professional English proficiency (verbal and written) — comfortable in a client-facing consulting setting and able to translate technical terms for non-technical audiences.
Strong programming skills, especially SQL.
Expert proficiency in dbt.
Expert proficiency in data modeling approaches and philosophies (e.g., Kimball, OBT).
Expert proficiency with at least one cloud data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake).
Expert proficiency with version control and git.
Knowledge of common data integration patterns (e.g., CDC, ELT).
Knowledge of common data integration / orchestration platforms (e.g., Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow).
Experience with business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI).
Nice-to-haves:
Data Analysis: a thorough understanding of data analysis, with the ability to identify deviations from the norm and relationships between data points.
Data Movement: experience importing large, assorted datasets from multiple sources into a single storage medium, with familiarity with event-driven architectures and asynchronous pub/sub design patterns.
What's In It For You
Impactful, senior-level work: you'll be a mentor and technical leader, shaping standards and helping build a growing analytics engineering practice.
Work with US-based clients on complex, meaningful data challenges as part of an established, full-service consultancy.
Remote-friendly, LATAM-based role. Eligible countries for this role are Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala.
Competitive compensation benchmarked to senior analytics engineering talent in LATAM, USD $68,000 - USD $78,000
Growth path: as a senior engineer, you'll have opportunities to lead, mentor, and shape practice standards over time.
