Overview
At Lupa, we're hiring a Director, Financial Planning & Analysis for a fast-growing, vertically integrated fiber internet provider bringing high-quality connectivity to Latin America's urban developing markets — and expanding into ambitious new frontiers like data centers, AI infrastructure, and renewable energy.
This is a rare build-from-zero opportunity. You won't be inheriting a mature, well-oiled function — you'll be constructing it. Backed by a fresh Series B and a strong US-caliber leadership team, this company is scaling fast (adding thousands of new customers every month) and needs a finance leader who thrives in that ambiguity. If you've seen a "dumpster fire" and turned it into a clean, efficient, board-ready operation, this role was written for you.
You'll be a true player-coach: setting the standard for the team, elevating the work, and rolling up your sleeves as a direct contributor when it counts. It's a chance to own the FP&A function end-to-end at a company where finance is central to some of the most exciting infrastructure bets in the region.
What You'll Do
Own the full annual budget process, from kickoff through board approval
Lead rolling monthly and quarterly forecast cycles across all business units
Own and evolve the integrated financial model (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, capex)
Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to support planning decisions
Own end-to-end delivery of the monthly close package with variance commentary
Prepare quarterly board reporting packages — both numbers and narrative
Own the company's KPI framework — unit economics, subscriber metrics, network performance
Serve as the primary finance partner to Operations, Sales, and Network teams, and build close working relationships with the Controller and accounting team to ensure clean, reliable data
Lead capex analysis and investment cases for network expansion
Drive margin and cost analysis, surfacing improvement opportunities
Set the AI-first standard for the team — tools, workflows, and prompting practices
Own team priorities, review and elevate outputs, and mentor two direct reports (with likely team growth over the next 12–24 months)
Build the systems, processes, and reporting infrastructure that don't yet exist — this is a build-from-scratch environment
Who You Are
Must-haves
Significant growth-stage startup FP&A experience — comfortable building foundational infrastructure and processes from scratch, with messy data and no established systems
AI-native — you use AI by default for modeling, analysis, and reporting, and can demonstrate it
Full bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, written and spoken
Demonstrated ownership of a full annual budget cycle
Track record of delivering board-level and external-facing reporting as the owner — clean, concise, polished output is a top priority
Expert-level financial modeling — integrated three-statement models, scenario analysis, capex planning
People management experience — able to lead, coach, and develop a small team (2–3 direct reports)
Sharp analytical thinker with high editorial standards
Polished communicator, effective with both executives and junior staff, who earns trust quickly across functions and seniority levels
Able and willing to be in-market in Medellín approximately 20–40% of the time during the first 12 months (tapering afterward)
Nice-to-haves
Background in capital-intensive, capex-heavy businesses — telecom, ISP, infrastructure, hardware/equipment, robotics, or subscription models (retail and supply-chain-heavy backgrounds are a strong corollary)
Time in management consulting (Big Four / top-tier)
Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite or SAP
Not a fit: Candidates with exclusively large-multinational experience and no exposure to a growth-stage, build-from-scratch environment — this profile has consistently struggled to adapt to the pace and ambiguity of the role.
What's In It For You
Compensation: Approximately 30–40M COP per month for the right senior candidate (roughly USD $12K/month). We pay top dollar for top people, and there is flexibility for exceptional profiles.
Location & flexibility: Remote-friendly across Latin America, with in-market presence in Medellín required ~20–40% of the time in year one, tapering thereafter. Open to candidates based in other LATAM hubs (e.g., Monterrey, Buenos Aires, Santiago) and select US cities with nonstop access to Medellín (Miami, Houston, NYC).
Growth: Join at Series B and help build the finance function through Series C and beyond. Team size is expected to grow over the next 12–24 months, with a clear path to expanded leadership scope
Impact: Own a highly visible seat — your work is consumed directly by senior leadership, the board, and investors
Employment model: Hired via the company's Colombian entity if based in Colombia, or as a contractor/EOR if based elsewhere.
