SERIES K FINANCIAL | Startup Accounting & Finance
Staff Accountant
About Series K Financial
Series K Financial is a CPA-led firm delivering startup accounting and finance services for seed-to Series B companies. We specialize in three core service areas: Bookkeeping & Month End Close, Financial Operations, and CFO Services.
We are a fully virtual, nationwide practice based in Charlotte, NC. Our team is lean, experienced, and deeply invested in the success of the startups we support. We're not a traditional accounting firm, we're a financial partner embedded in the growth of our clients.
Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and self-driven Staff Accountant to join our growing team. In this role, you will work directly on client engagements across our bookkeeping and financial operations service lines, supporting accurate month-end closes, clean financial records, and the day-to-day accounting operations of our startup clients.
This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of their work, and wants to grow within a firm that is building something different.
This is a part-time role, expected at approximately 4 hours per day during standard US Eastern business hours (ET) to support real-time collaboration with clients and the Series K team. As our client base grows, there is potential for this role to expand into a full-time position.
What You'll Do
• Execute GAAP-compliant bookkeeping and month-end close procedures for a portfolio of startup clients
• Reconcile accounts, manage journal entries, and maintain the accuracy and integrity of client financial records
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and collections follow-up
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports • Maintain organized and audit-ready workpapers for each client engagement • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, templates, and workflows • Stay current on relevant accounting standards and best practices applicable to early-stage companies
What We're Looking For
Required
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in public accounting, a CPA firm, or a finance function
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP and its application to financial reporting • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling basics)
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or comparable cloud-based accounting software • Professional-level English proficiency; written and verbal communication with US-based clients and team members
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously in a remote environment • Clear and professional written communication skills
Preferred
• Experience supporting US-based clients or working within a US-aligned accounting framework
• Familiarity with AP/AR automation tools and modern fintech platforms, such as Ramp • Exposure to financial operations buildouts (chart of accounts setup, process documentation, internal controls)
• Prior experience in a multi-client or outsourced accounting environment
Why Series K
• Work directly with startup founders and leadership teams
• Fully remote with flexible working arrangements
• Be part of a firm being built from the ground up; your contributions shape how we operate • Direct mentorship from a licensed CPA with deep startup finance experience
